I’ve been watching “The Big Bang Theory” for several years now, and only when we discuss Operant conditioning that i understand better The season 3 Episode 3 Entitled: “The Gothowitz Deviation”.
Sheldon is trying to use positive reinforcement to train Penny to behave how he likes. Leonard catches on and initially is appalled by it, telling Sheldon to stop. But when Leonard sees how well it works, he decides to use it on Penny to achieve his own objectives. Penny catches on and gives Leonard a little negative reinforcement.
Similarly, Season 8 Episode 5 Entitled: The Focus Attenuation applies negative reinforcement to stop procrastinating on their project. That is seen in 15:14 -16:47 minutes of this episode.
